Since the start of the 90s, wvi has played an active role in the development of the cross-border cooperation with the neighbouring regions of North France and Hainaut. This cooperation has evolved over the years: from punctual projects to a structural partnership. Wvi is part of two cooperation agreements: the "Euro-metropolis Lille - Courtrai – Tournai and the grouping "West-Flanders / Flandre-Dunkerque-Côte d'Opale". Both are European Groupings for Territorial Cooperation (EGTC). In each case, wvi has been part of these structural contacts right from the time of their inception.
This is how wvi renders the European integration process into daily practice. Along with all policy levels on both sides of the border and the local active powers, WVI helps build a cross-border dynamic which facilitates the development of our region. Moreover, this dynamic encompasses more than just the new policy frameworks. Wvi also focuses its efforts on generating, guiding and developing concrete cross-border projects.
